Important Changes for VISA Check Card Customers
The Federal Reserve has established new overdraft rules for consumers who use check (debit) cards. The new rules give consumers a choice of overdraft protection options - but advise consumers who opened their checking account before July 1, 2010 to inform their bank of their interest by August 15, 2010. If you would like your one-time VISA Check Card transactions to be covered by Territorial Savings Bank's Standard Overdraft Practice when you have insufficient funds in your account, please provide us with your consent. ATM and Check Card Notifications
To protect your account, we monitor your ATM and check card transactions for potentially fraudulent activity. Should we suspect fraudulent activity, we'll be calling you to validate the legitimacy of your transactions. Your participation in responding to our automated call is critical to prevent potential risk and avoid restrictions we may place on the use of your card. To ensure we can continue to reach you whenever potential fraud is detected, please keep us informed of your correct phone numbers and address at all times.
If you will be traveling to a foreign country and plan to use your Territorial Savings Bank Check Card, please contact our Electronic Banking Services Department at (808) 946-1400. We have blocked specific transactions in several foreign countries to prevent your check card from unauthorized use. By contacting us, we can explain how and where you'll be able to use your card.
FDIC Transaction Guarantee Program
Beginning July 1, 2010 Territorial Savings Bank will no longer participate in the FDIC's
Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Thus, after June 30, 2010, funds held in noninterest-bearing transaction accounts will no longer be guaranteed in full under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program, but will be insured up to $250,000 under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.
